Let’s Talk Mystery

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

On August 2nd, I will be moderating a discussion called Let’s Talk Mystery, at the new Kingwood branch of the Harris County Library on August 2, at 7:00 p.m.. This discussion will be held in the 1st Floor Meeting room at 4400 Bens View Lane, Kingwood.

I will provide a list of my favorite mysteries which I plan to discuss. But I would also like the audience to offer up the names of their own favorites to share. Hopefully, we will all discover new authors and mysteries which are appealing to us, ones we will want to add to our personal reading list.

Everyone is invited, so please join us then for what we hope will be a pleasant evening.

Curious About Kindles?

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Have you be following all the hullabaloo about the Kindle and other E-Readers?  Are you wondering if you’d like one?  Are you tempted by the low prices and even free books that are available?  Well relax, you can try it for FREE.  Yes that’s right.  You don’t have to invest your money in purchasing a Kindle or an iPad or any of the other devices that allow you to read books without carting a book around with you.  Kindle offers an app, for free, that you can load on to your computer, your Blackberry, iPhone or even Android, what ever that is.  And with it in place you can order and read your books on that device.

If you like the way it works, then you can think about investing the money in a real device.

Click here to try it for yourself.

But be warned, one of the best features of the actual Kindle is the way you can read the screen without tiring your eyes.  That feature won’t be in effect on another device.  So use your imagination on that.

Why do I care?  Well I am thrilled with my Kindle.  And I love being able to have the ability to get a new books at any time, day or night.  I’m one of those people who has to have a To Be Read pile of books waiting.  I worry that I will run out of reading material some day.  It relaxes me to know I can add a book at any time.  And of course, I am offering all of my books for sale at the Kindle store.

So think about joining the E Reading revolution.  Don’t just sit back and grumble about not having a real book in your hands.  Have both.  Try it for yourself.

Reformatted Kindle Copy

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Last September when I successfully loaded Tea is for Terror on Kindle I was just tickled pink. Technically challenged as I am, I thought I had done something wonderful. And actually I had, as over five hundred Kindle copies have been sold to date. But, as I became more experienced in using and reading books on my own Kindle, I realized how annoying those formatting problems many Kindle books have can be to the reader. And to my horror, I realized Tea is for Terror is one of those books with formatting problems.

After struggling with loading that first book on Kindle, I found and used a professional group to prepare the subsequent books and so when those books appear on Kindle, they are formatted just as they are in paper form. I hated that Tea is for Terror wasn’t appearing at its best, so I just had it fixed. Today I loaded the corrected file and in 48 hours the book will be availabe again, in it’s best form.

If you haven’t as yet bought your copy, it’s a deal at only $3.99 in electronic form. Check it out.
